Clovelly- Art Deco building and apartment receives a makeover with an infusion of colour and architectural design reflective of the era.

I love art deco, sadly though the interiors of many Deco buildings do not reflect the strength of the exterior façade. All I had to go by in relation to my client Maria’s style was some temporary IKEA furniture and some dodgy photos of her art collection, which was travelling from her former home in New York. The art collection was fabulous, the Ikea furniture not!

Again, I wanted to create layers and layers of rich colour and texture that was truly reflective of Art Deco and of Maria herself- an explosion of colour, vibrancy and a wicked sense of humour. The wall colours not only make the artworks pop, they enlarge the space with depth of colour, as does the custom cabinetry throughout, the colours, the curves are a true reflection of the designs of the time with a playful twist.
